I think it is more likely a bug in the driver software. With my Pinnacle capture card I do not encounter this problem, while my Hauppauge PVR150 cards freeze preview too. THe solution I am using is a de-interlace filter. There are two advantages: first the preview quality increases, second there is preview.

Forum category: DirectX.Capture Forums / General
Forum thread: Change capture pin resolutions freezes preview

Hello Brian,

Thanks for your answer. As you see I am not a frequent visitor yet. I still check the DirectX.Capture related pages now and then and I still receive a number of questions on this subject. I modified my DirectX.Capture program a little bit, I added support for WM profiles in prx file. I analysed your "latest" version and made new code for supporting Color Space and Video Standard. THat code has not been released yet, testing is very time consuming … I usually put my latest version at the codeproject.com

Hans

Forum category: DirectX.Capture Forums / General
Forum thread: Are these forums a good idea?

Hello I'm trying to capture and encode using different resolution than capture pin's default ( 320x240 in my case).
But any change in capture pin's resolutions makes preview to freeze, capture and encoding to file still works ok.
I also tryed changing pin preview resolution to same as capture pin, but problem stills happens.
If I use graphedit and build exactly the same graph builded in DiretXCapture ( or in my own c++ capture program ) problem still happens.
So I think that could be a bug in DirectShow, and maybe ther's a workaround to solve it…
Any ideas?
Thanks
Alex

Forum category: DirectX.Capture Forums / General
Forum thread: Change capture pin resolutions freezes preview

I did convert the API code to C# Managed DirectX, but it only cap when the game is in window mode and I use the getDesktopWindow handler. But when the game is in fullscreen I do get "Error in the application." exception. This occurs when I try to create the Device.

So, for fullscreen game, I'm trying to create the Device into the game window handler.

janela = PlatformInvokeUSER32.FindWindow(Config.GameClassName, Config.GameWindowName);

if (janela.Equals(IntPtr.Zero))
{
error = "O " + Config.GameName + " não está rodando.";
return null;
}

if (!PlatformInvokeUSER32.GetWindowRect(janela, out rect))
{
error = "O " + Config.GameName + " foi fechado.";
return null;
}
size.cx = rect.Right - rect.Left;
size.cy = rect.Bottom - rect.Top;

AdapterInformation adapterInfo = Manager.Adapters.Default;

PresentParameters parameters = new PresentParameters();
parameters.Windowed = true;
parameters.BackBufferFormat = adapterInfo.CurrentDisplayMode.Format;
parameters.BackBufferHeight = size.cy;
parameters.BackBufferWidth = size.cx;
parameters.MultiSample = MultiSampleType.None;
parameters.SwapEffect = SwapEffect.Discard;
parameters.DeviceWindowHandle = janela;
parameters.PresentationInterval = PresentInterval.Default;
parameters.FullScreenRefreshRateInHz = adapterInfo.CurrentDisplayMode.RefreshRate;

device = new Device(adapterInfo.Adapter, DeviceType.Hardware, janela, CreateFlags.SoftwareVertexProcessing, parameters);

And I still get the same error in the last line. I did tried to set the parameters to windowed mode, not windowed. I think I've already tried all combinations.

Can anyone give me some help?

Forum category: DirectX.Capture Forums / General
Forum thread: Trying to cap fullscreen game(DirectX)

Almere109,

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry for the late reply. The forum did not send me an email when you posted.

What do you recommend? We can shut down this forum/wiki and point people to a sourceforge project or your web page. I just want readers of my article to find either a) the latest version of DirectX.Capture, or b) find a better/newer project for capturing video.

As for a user account, I believe you can create an new account by clicking on the "Create account" link in the top right of the page. Also note, you do not need to edit the wiki. If that does not work or you would like an admin account, send me an email at directxcapture at brianlow.com.

Brian

Forum category: DirectX.Capture Forums / General
Forum thread: Are these forums a good idea?

Well, I have mixed feelings on this. Of course the project is great. It learned me using C# in a way I could not imagin in advance. The funny thing is that I wanted to use Delphi instead but the compiler seems to be too limited (or too expensive). Well it was the reason to start using Microsoft C#. In the meantime I modified also the C++ Amcap example, so it can be used quite similar as its C# counterpart. The nice thing of Amcap is that I could solve some programming problems I encountered.
My concern is that there are a number of related subjects. Some are at the code project. Also there is Sourceforge.net and furthermore, I have also my own website with DirectShow information. As result I receive quite a lot questions. On the other hand a good forum about DirectX.Capture (or using DirectShow) sounds good to me. But I do not want to look at too many different sites/fora.

almere109 (is it possible to get an user account)

Forum category: DirectX.Capture Forums / General
Forum thread: Are these forums a good idea?

Well, first of all thanks for this project and for you work.

I think yes, this forum is a good idea. I like more this format.

I'm developing an astronomy software for polar align, autoguide, meassure errors and manage a GoTo scope mount. EQAlign is a GNU/GPL open source project at sourceforge:
http://eqalign.sourceforge.net/eqalign/index.php/Main_Page

Sorry, almost all in spanish, but some english at my personal web: http://eqalign.net

It controls some specific astronomy cameras, but also webcams to do meassures (Philips SPC900NC is a very sensitive CCD webcam). By now i have implemented a non-at-all satisfactory WDM capture via dll avicap32 calls, but as soon as i can i'll study your code.

Well, again good work, and thanks!

Antonio Fraga

Forum category: DirectX.Capture Forums / General
Forum thread: Are these forums a good idea?
